Where are you going with your BJD?
Now, you might be wondering – “why would you even need to move your BJD?”.
In fact, the answer to this question is diverse.

You might need to move your BJD for various reasons, including (but not limited to):
Carrying your doll to a BJD convention
Participating in BJD contests
Attending doll meet-ups with your BJD
Showing them to a friend T
Gifting your BJD to a friend
Selling your BJD
Taking your doll out for a photoshoot
Changing your place of residence
And so much more.
Whatever reason you have to carry your BJD, it might get you feeling frustrated, because you don’t want to hurt your doll in any way.
Fortunately, you can avoid damaging your BJD. Let me share how you can safely move your doll.
Different Types of BJD Carrying Cases
“Official” BJD Carrying Case

The best way to safely carry your BJD is to use an “official” BJD carrying case. These cases are designed specifically for transporting ball-jointed dolls and are made of such a soft material that would protect them from accidental hits and sunlight.
These “official” BJD carrying cases are usually sold by major BJD manufacturers, or artists that sell hand-made, yet high-quality bags.

Here’s the list of online stores where you can find a proper bag for your BJD:
Home Ready BJD Carrying Cases
While official BJD carrying cases are the safest, they can also be pricey. That’s why many BJD owners use home-made carrying cases or other bags they own.
Let me share some less expensive ways of safely carrying your BJD.
Actually, any bag with a solid cover and sides should work, because it would protect your doll from getting damaged if you accidentally hit your bag against something.
Here are some of the creative carrying bags/items people in this hobby use to safely carry their BJDs:

Coin Pouch for Tiny BJDs
A compact and convenient option for carrying your miniature BJDs. These small pouches provide a secure and portable solution to keep your tiny dolls safe during travel.
Duffle bags and backpacks
Opt for spacious duffle bags or backpacks that offer enough room for your BJD. Make sure to wrap your doll(s) in a soft towel to provide additional protection against any potential bumps or impacts.
Pet Backpack
Consider using a pet backpack designed for small animals. Ensure that your doll fits securely and comfortably in the backpack, providing a safe and cozy space for your BJD during your travels.
Yoga Bag
A yoga bag can serve as an unconventional carrying case for your BJD. These bags often have compartments and adjustable straps, allowing you to securely transport your doll while keeping accessories organized.
Umbrella Stroller
Perfect for larger BJDs or when traveling with multiple dolls, an umbrella stroller provides a mobile and convenient solution. Ensure that the stroller is sturdy and has a secure harness to keep your dolls in place.
Mini Suitcase
For a touch of elegance, consider using a mini suitcase to transport your BJD. These compact cases often come with padding and compartments, providing a stylish and protective option for your doll.
Bonus: 5 Traveling Tips to Carry Your BJD Safely!
Now that you know where to place your BJD to carry it around, I’d like to share some bonus tips to travel with your doll as safely as possible.
Don’t stuff too many dolls in a bag!
Stuffing multiple dolls in a tight bag isn’t a good idea, simply because resin on resin will be harsh and friction may scratch your dolls.
Apply a faceup protector to your BJD’s face
The faceup is one of the most valuable parts of your BJD. Unfortunately, there’s a high risk of damaging a faceup during transportation. I have had eyelashes bend and even come off at times when I traveled without a faceup mask/protector/shield.

To eliminate damage, it’s a good idea to keep their faces protected. You can even use a Slurpee cup top in a pinch.
Make sure your BJD fits well in your bag
Despite what type of bag you use, make sure your BJD’s parts don’t stick outside of a bag.
Wrap your BJDs in a towel
Whether the bag is bigger than your BJD and there is a lot of space left, or you try to fit multiple dolls into one bag, it’s a good idea to wrap them in a towel.
The towel will eliminate any type of friction that could damage your BJD. It also provides cushion for them in the event you drop your bag or if something bumps into it.
Use an umbrella if needed
Resin is sensitive to UV rays, causing them to accelerate the yellowing process.

So in case you’re doing a photo shoot outside, make sure to use an umbrella to block the sun from damaging your resin BJD.
In conclusion, finding the right carrying case for your BJD is essential to ensure their safety and protection while traveling. Whether it’s a coin pouch for tiny BJDs, duffle bags, backpacks, pet backpacks, yoga bags, umbrella strollers, or mini suitcases, each option offers unique features to accommodate different sizes and styles of dolls.
By investing in a suitable carrying case and following these travel tips, you can embark on your journeys with peace of mind, knowing that your beloved BJDs are well-protected and ready for adventures.
Happy travels and may your BJDs continue to bring joy and inspiration wherever they go!
